Jacob & Jessica

Still can’t believe this is real, Jacob is the sort of person who I expected to outlive us all, with his pure heart and vibrant energy. How can it be true that he’s gone?

I’ve been remembering a lot of little, joyful moments. Studying for Chinese in my dorm room and Jacob spilling half a jar of peanut butter on my comforter. When he and Isaac visited me in Amsterdam and we spent hours walking around the city and then Jacob convinced us to let him cook dinner for the entire hostel staff. Jacob taking pictures for my student govt posters and laughing as we brainstormed the dumbest slogans ever. Long walks around campus our senior year and the deep conversations we’d have about how we wanted life to play out. I wish we had videos of him, his mischievous smile and eyes widening in shock when you accused him of stirring the pot on some drama.

He was always joyful, always encouraging others, and always excited about a plan to get people together. We haven’t spoken in years, but I think like many of you, his friendship helped shape me into who I am today and I’ll always be grateful to have known him

Do you guys remember freshmen year when Jacob went to trim his hair but he didn’t have a guard on the clippers and shaved a bald patch down the center of his head? He ran into the switz with a beanie on and whipped it off dramatically to show us. I love how un-self-consious he was and willing to laugh at himself.
